You will have the opportunity to look through Pastry Diva's portfolio and we will discuss your ideas for your own unique cake. Pastry Diva will provide an estimate of final cost and you will leave happy this wedding-planning task has been completed. There is no obligation for this free tasting appointment. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
What is the structure of a wedding cake and how is it different from a sheet cake?
Each tier of a wedding cake is composed of four layers of cake and three layers of filling. Wedding cake servings are 1"x2" rectangles, approximately 5 1/2 - 6 inches tall. Sheet cakes are composed of two layers of cake and one layer of filling. Sheet cake servings are 2"x2" squares, 3" tall.
Are Pastry Diva products made from scratch?
You are buying a quality product where everything is created from scratch. Pastry Chef Andrea Breisch graduated from Kendall College School of Culinary Arts and has worked for some of the finest European chefs.
Will Pastry Diva work with my small budget?
Pastry Diva can create a smaller version of any larger cake. It is more cost effective to have a smaller centerpiece wedding cake and serve sheet cakes to your guests.
Are there any rental fees when purchasing a wedding cake?
No. Any additional flowers or accessories are provided by the bride for Pastry Diva to place on the cake.
Are flowers and accessories included in wedding cake cost?
There are rental fees when plastic pillars are used for the cake. There is a rental fee for the wooden board at the base of a wedding cake. The rental fee for the board is usually returned when the board is given back to Pastry Diva.
Is it more cost effective to buy cupcakes instead of a wedding cake?
No. Cupcakes require individual attention when baking and decorating. It is more labor intensive to prepare cupcakes than a wedding cake.
How do I prepare for my tasting appointment?
Preparation for the appointment is important. Pastry Diva will need to know your reception date, location, approximate number of guests and any specific colors, designs or motifs you would like to work with. Please bring any pictures that might be helpful in conveying your wishes.
When is final payment required for the wedding cake?
Wedding cakes MUST BE PAID IN FULL one week before the wedding date.
What happens if my head count goes up or down after the cake is ordered?
Order details will be finalized one week prior to the wedding. Adjustments to cake size may be made at that time.
How does the cake get to the reception?
You may either transport your cake or Pastry Diva will deliver it for you. There is a nominal delivery fee. Pastry Diva recommends you have the cake delivered if it is more than three tiers.
What do I need to know about storing and serving a Pastry Diva cake?
Pastry Diva cakes should be stored in the refrigerator and served at room temperature. Please allocate enough time for the cake to come to room temperature before serving so the icing is creamy and smooth. Our buttercream icing is made with real butter and must be enjoyed at room temperature to achieve full flavor and creamy texture.
